Will you marry anyone?
I will be more than happy to marry anyone of sex, religious background, race, or belief system as long as the intent of the couple is true, the ceremony is legal in the state of Michigan or comparable (civil ceremonies, unity ceremonies, vow renewals, etc...).
What types of ceremonies do you perform?
It is your wedding. I will ask what you like and lead by your personality and desires. I can present you with many ideas based on what we have discussed at our face to face meeting and make a basic outline. From there we will work together to find the perfect symphony of expression. I am here to make the most important day of your life the most magical it can be.
What if I am too nervous to read vows?
If you are too nervous, self conscious or have anxieties about standing in front of crowds of people, there are other options. We can hold a smaller ceremony with less of an audience, making the situation more intimate. This of course, may or may not be the best option as most couples want to share their joy with as many people as possible on their special day. Another option is to have a simple ceremony start with a passage or reading, have a short ring ceremony where I present the dialogue and you offer the "I DO" and end with a blessing for your future together. We can also have a ceremony where you simply read your handwritten vows, followed by the ring ceremony and a blessing. There are many variations which can make the "on stage" part as quick and painless as possible for the squeamish.
How do we pay you for your services?
Unless there are special arrangements approved of ahead of time, the policies follow this basic outline (your package received during our first face to face meeting, or consultation, will include a detailed outline).
All fees will be paid in cash, money order or PayPal.
A deposit will be made to retain services and will reflect on the type of services I will be offering. The deposit must be made at least three months in advance followed by the remainder of the balance to be paid in full two weeks before the wedding.
Deposit will not be returned if the ceremony is cancelled last minute, if communication has not been followed through by the party to be wed, or if you have found another officiant.
All cancellations must be given at least 30 days prior notice. Cancellations without 30 days notice will result in forfeiture of the full amount of the deposit.
Will you stay after the ceremony, take photos or join the reception?
If you would like and I have the ability to take a photo or two with you for my portfolio, then yes. However, I respectfully decline joining you for your reception.
Will you arrive early before the ceremony?
My arrival is usually and hour to an hour and a half prior to your ceremony. This allows proper time to:
check with the bride and groom, best man and maid/matron of honor, receive any last minute questions or instructions from the DJ or facility/wedding coordinator (if any).
I will also gather the witnesses, prepare all copies of your marriage license, and complete the certificate and have witnesses sign.
I will retain the proper copy(s) for the state and mail those documents to the proper authorities. I will return your copy(s) to you or whoever you choose to hold the documents that day.
What will you wear?
Weather permitting, a neutral dress or dress slacks and tasteful blouse. I may also wear clergy robes or a ministers's stole. If you have any special requests or themed outfits you would prefer, please let me know in advance so that I can abide by your wishes for a great wedding!
Where will you travel to?
I generally serve the Mid-Michigan area but am willing to travel the surrounding areas in Michigan. Travelling great distances may incur extra fees for mileage as well as time. Please allow time for arrangements to be made if I must stay out of town for your event.
